Haag receives multiple honors

PFC Matthew D. Haag of Clarkston recently completed his advanced training as a Bradley Fighting Vehicle Maintenance Engineer at Fort Knox, Kentucky.
PFC Haag received the Distinguished Honor Graduate Award, which is given to the student that has demonstrated academic scholarship, leadership and physical readiness superior to that of his peers. It is limited to one soldier per graduating class.
He also received the Soldier of Steel Award for achieving the highest score on the Army Physical Fitness Test, with at least 270 points, out of a possible 300.
Haag also attained the Excellence in Maintenance distinction. This program provides selected soldiers who have the desire and ability to learn, are highly motivated, physically fit and have demonstrated the leadership potential with accelerated, more in-depth training. The program is designed to better prepare and provide more technically proficient soldiers to the field.
Finally, PFC Haag gave the commencement speech to the graduating class and presented the units appreciation award to SSG D.R. Lilly. Matt is a 2004 graduate of Clarkston High School.
