Neighbor finds girl, 3, standing by the road

The Oakland County Sheriff’s Department responded to call of child neglect on Baldwin Road on March 23.
According to an OCSD report, a neighbor found a three-year-old girl was standing alone, barefoot and in her pajamas, on the sidewalk. He said when he first saw her, she was standing by the road.
Deputies found the child cold, shaking and crying, and asking for her mother. They found an 11-year-old girl alone in the home, who said she had not seen their mother since she went to bed the night before.
The mother’s purse was dumped on the floor and her glasses were on the sofa. Deputies went to her place of work to search for her. Shortly after, a woman pulled in the driveway with the mother in her vehicle.
The mother told deputies that her other daughter had missed the school bus, so she told her to walk down the road to catch it. She then got worried and went after her daughter.
She was picked up by the woman, who took her to her daughter and then drove them to school and took the mother home.
A caseworker from the Family Independence Agency decided the four children in the home would have to be removed pending an evaluation.
