Students at Pine Tree Elementary School ended the end of March is Reading Month with hundreds of small balloons — and one big one.
All of the kids reached their reading goals. To celebrate, they tied messages with their first names and addresses to balloons asking whoever found the balloons to write back to them.
The principals had do something special too. Diane Dunaskiss took a quick trip straight up on a hot air balloon provided by Keith McIntyre. The balloon was tethered so Dunaskiss only rose to about 40 feet off the ground.
McIntyre spend a few minutes telling the students how a hot air balloon works.
Since the balloons were launched, some students have received some responses from people in northeast Canada.
