If you’ve been to the Seymour Lake Township Park within the last week, you may have noticed a new face around the grounds.
Jeff Kinasz is the new maintenance superintendent for the Oxford Township Parks and Recreation Department and he’s very proud of what he does.
The 43-year-old Bridgeport resident has been married 18 years and has three sons, ranging in age from 13 to 17. He and his family are currently in the process of moving to Oxford.
Kinasz used to work for Bridgeport schools in the skill trades and maintenance department, doing everything from taking care of baseball diamonds to fixing building problems.
‘I like working with my hands,? he said.
Kinasz said fixing things comes naturally to him. He’s a state licensed builder and was involved in the construction industry for a while.
As the new maintenance superintendent, Kinasz said his first goal is to get acquainted with the township and his employees. There are two full-time employees working with him as well as various seasonal employees.
Parks and Rec. Director Ron Davis said Kinasz’s presence has been nothing but great so far.
‘He fits right in with our team philosophy,? he said. ‘We feel fortunate to have him on staff.?
Although this is his first week, Kinasz already had a task to complete. He installed surveillance cameras at Seymour Lake Park to help deter vandalism and theft in the maintenance area and disc golf course.
(For more information on the disc golf course see page 3.)
‘We just want people to know we’re watching what’s going on out here,? he said.
Kinasz said he’s excited to be working in a growing community like Oxford.
‘There’s a lot of hustle and bustle here, which I like,? he said.
