No problem with liquor license transfer for restaurant

The location of the Wooden Eagle restaurant on Lapeer Road will soon be under new ownership.
Orion Township trustees adopted a resolution at their April 18 board meeting, to tell the Liquor Control Commission (LCC) that the township does not have a problem with the transferring of ownership of a 2004 Class C licensed business from Brewski’s to SLON, LLC.
The board also agreed to have the clerk sign a dance permit agreement with SLON on behalf of the township.
The petitioner, Slavko Stojanowski, told the board that he would be opening a ‘casual family-style? restaurant soon in the location currently known as the Wooden Eagle, located next to Best Western on Lapeer Road.
‘I’ve been approved for a liquor license four times before,? he said. ‘I think I will be doing a good job for you…You’ll like me to be in your town.?
Stojanowski said he formerly ran the Old Town Cafe in Utica, as well as Tuscany Grill at M-59 and Crooks in Rochester. He said he recently sold that restaurant to one of his chefs.
Supervisor Jerry Dywasuk said it had been brought to his attention that in regards to the original permit for the Lapeer Road location, some things were not followed by that petitioner.
‘You must include a safety path,? Dywasuk said. ‘Sometimes they just put money into the fund.?
Stojanowski said he planned to fully comply.
Trustee John Steimel said it was important for people to know that the township was just transferring an already existing liquor license.
‘We’re not issuing a new license,? he added.
