Contrary to popular belief, we did not break the back of winter last week. The reports of Old Man Winter’s demise were greatly exaggerated.
Approximately 9? inches of snow fell on the Oxford area during April 23-25 winter storm, according to the National Weather Service Detroit/Pontiac Office.
Ironic, considering temperatures broke the 80-degree mark April 19, leading many to believe that spring was indeed finally here.
But alas the warm air and sunshine were a diversion meant to lull us all into a false sense of security. Once again wicked Old Man Winter had the last laugh as he dumped tons of the dreaded white stuff on our budding spring flowers.
Thankfully, tempertatures reached the 50s on Monday and Tuesday, melting almost all the snow.
Was this freak storm winter’s last blast? Is spring here to stay? Stay tuned.
