A three-vehicle accident April 27 sent two drivers to the hospital and landed the third driver a ticket.
The accident occurred near the intersection of M-24 and Oakdell Road around 3 p.m. when a 17-year-old Oxford woman driving a 1999 Pontiac Grand Am pulled out of the Shell gas station and attempted to turn left onto southbound M-24.
The Oxford teen’s entry into the northbound lanes of M-24 caused a 1987 Mercedes Benz 300E, driven by a 50-year-old Clinton Township man, to clip the Grand Am’s front bumper as he swerved into the southbound lanes to avoid hitting her.
As a result, the Mercedes was struck by an oncoming 2000 Lexus RX 300 driven by a 56-year-old Oxford woman.
The Clinton Township man and 56-year-old Oxford woman were both transported to St. Joseph Mercy Hospital in Pontiac. The 17-year-old Oxford driver was not injured. Neither was her passenger, an 18-year-old Oxford woman.
Oakland County Sheriff’s deputies ticketed the teen driver.
