A 2005 Oxford graduate was on her way home from the Senior All Night Party at the high school when she was involved in an accident at Washington and Burdick streets just before 5 a.m. Monday.
According to village Police Chief Mike Neymanowski, the 18-year-old was travelling westbound on E. Burdick St. in her 2000 Jeep.
She stopped at the intersection for the traffic signal, which blinks red for traffic on Burdick and yellow for vehicles on M-24 until 5 a.m.
It appears a vehicle stopped next to her in the left-turn lane interfered with her view, preventing her from seeing a northbound vehicle on M-24 as she proceeded westward through the intersection, Neymanowski said.
A 67-year-old Pontiac man driving a 1995 Chevy S-10 pickup truck crashed into her Jeep on the driver’s side.
The Oxford driver sustained minor injuries, according to the chief. She did not require ambulatory transportation to a hospital. The Pontiac man was uninjured.
Although it was determined the Oxford driver was at fault for failing to yield, no citations were issued, the chief reported.
