Pickup slams Jeep on M-24

A two-vehicle collision at M-24 and Harriet St., south of Gateway Drive, sent a Burton woman to the hospital July 13.
Ironically, the accident took place in front of the POH Medical Center.
Apparently, a 47-year-old Oakland Township man driving a 1994 Jeep Cherokee was stopped in the left lane of northbound M-24, preparing to make a left-turn into the POH parking lot.
That’s when a 1996 GMC Sierra pickup slammed into the Jeep’s rear. The 19-year-old Burton woman driving the pickup truck admitted to Oakland County Sheriff’s deputies she took her eyes off the road to look at an exhibit at POH, according to the report.
At the time of the accident, POH was having their 25th anniversary celebration outside, which included a monster truck parked in front of the facility near the roadside of M-24
The Burton woman was transported via ambulance to Genesys Hospital in Grand Blanc. She was cited by deputies for being unable to stop in an assured clear distance. Neither the Oakland Twp. man nor his 8-year-old daughter, who was a passenger, required transport to a hospital.
