Howarth United Methodist Church, located on Silverbell Road in Lake Orion, recently added an interesting feature to its sanctuary: A replica of Noah’s Ark, created by congregation member John Pollitt, and painted by Matthew and Rachel Bouvier. Pollitt built the ark out of cardboard for the church’s vacation Bible school, which was held the last week of July with the theme ‘Noah’s Ark.? The church collected money to benefit the Heifer Foundation, which provides animals to raise for families in need across the world. The church and VBS combined raised $330, enough to purchase a water buffalo, three flocks of chickens and a trio of rabbits. The ark will remain in the sanctuary until the end of August; pictured is Howarth Pastor Sylvia Bouvier. To learn more about the Heifer Foundation, visit www.heiferfoundation.org.
