Blackhawk golfers still in thick of Flint Metro League race

Heading into the home stretch of their league season, the Brandon varsity boys golf team is in good shape.
Despite a narrow loss to Flint Metro rival Linden Sept. 15, the Blachkawks are currently 4-1 in league dual meet action.
Brandon lost a 152-154 matchup against Linden, with Josh Williams leading the Blackhawks with a 35. Ryan Bilkos carded 38 for Brandon.
The Blackhawks compared very favorably to the other Division 2 golf teams in Oakland County during the Sept. 12 county meet at Pontiac Municipal Golf Course.
Brandon placed third out of 25 teams at the meet, finishing with a team score of 304. Novi Detroit Catholic Central won the tournament with a team score of 283, well ahead of second-place Avondale (300).
Will Hubbard headed up the Brandon contingent by shooting a round of 73, while Williams shot 75, Voyer 77, and Bilkos 79.
The Blackhawks were also successful in two league meets the previous week.
On Sept. 8, the Blackhawks defeated Fenton 152-157 at Tyrone Hills Golf Course. Bilkos was the medalist for the meet with a round of 36, followed by Williams at 37 and Brian Jordan at 38.
Brandon also won a Sept. 7 home meet 152-156 against Holly. Bilkos was once again medalist for the meet, shooing 34 on the day. Williams and Jeff Carroll were the other Blackhawk golfers to break 40, with each shooting 39.
Other Brandon contributors were Voyer and Jordan, each shooting 40.
