Lake Orion High School graduate Jim Couretas, of Oxford, currently a junior at Northern Michigan University, set NCAA II single-game records for the most tackles and most solo tackles in the NMU Cats? recent double-overtime loss at Findlay.
Couretas is a 6?2,? 230-pound linebacker for the NMU football team. He tallied 16 solo tackles, breaking the record of 15, while the 29 total tackles broke the mark of 25 set by Alan Slaughter of Tusculum, Tennessee in 2000.
Couretas also tallied two quarterback sacks (10 yards) and forced three fumbles in the game.
He was named GLIAC (Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference) Defensive Player of the Week.
