A special evening for education

The Lake Orion Education, in cooperation with National City Bank, hosted ‘An Evening for Education? ? a dinner, dance and auction at Indianwood Golf & Country Club on Nov. 5.
The goal of this event was to raise awareness and funding to support a variety of programs which will enhance the educational experience of the children of the Lake Orion Community Schools.
Over 125 attended from all areas of the community, including educators, administrators, parents, politicians, board members and local business leaders. The evening featured a silent auction, live auction, the music of the Dr. Z Band and guest speaking appearances by Senator Mike Bishop and Jim Northrup, a former Detroit Tiger baseball player.
Senator Bishop shared his thoughts about providing our children with the best possible opportunity for future success through a strong community and a solid education. He applauded the tremendous efforts of the Lake Orion Education Foundation and praised the incredible support that was given by the entire Lake Orion community.
Northrup told stories about his playing career season and gave everyone his perspective on the world of professional sports.
The highlight of the evening was provided by Steve Appledorn, Monica Squarcia and Marshalynn Johnson who on behalf of National City Bank provided the LOEF with a donation of $12,500.
