The varsity girls basketball team saw their season end last Wednesday in the second round of districts.
Oxford drew a bye in the first round and met up with the Waterford Kettering Captains in the second round of the tournament. The final score was 45-33.
Freshman Joelle Harms was high scorer with 12 points.
Oxford finished the season 1-13 in the Flint Metro League, but despite their losing record, first year head coach Al Poynter was positive about his team’s growth.
‘Wins and losses do not always show how much improvement a team has made. We are a much better team now than we were at the beginning of the season, which is difficult to do when you are not winning many games. That makes me very proud of these girls and how they represented our program, school, and themselves.?
Poynter also added that he is very proud of his senior’s dedication and commitment for the season, and to his underclassmen he is expecting improvement to continue especially with one year under their belts in the new system.
