Abandoned vehicle starts chain

What started as an abandoned vehicle complaint turned into much more, and led to an eventual arrest, on Jan. 10.
According to an Oakland County Sheriff’s Department report, a Shorewood Drive man reported an abandoned vehicle on a property he was attempting to sell.
The vehicle belonged to a 41-year-old Shorewood Court man. The vehicle was last registered in 1985.
Buckhorn’s was called in to impound the vehicle and the Shorewood Court man was cited for littering.
The littering citation comes as part of a 2004 instituted Michigan law aimed at cleaning up abandoned or junked cars.
Fines for the littering could reach up to $2,500, and the Shorewood Court man was also responsible for the towing costs.
But the story doesn’t end there.
The Shorewood Court man was also discovered to have four outstanding warrants in Lapeer County, and was taken into custody.
Arrangements were then made for his transfer to Lapeer County custody.
