The Road Commission for Oakland County has hired a company called Stantec to survey roads in the county for ride quality and distress.
The Lake Orion Village Council voted Jan. 9 to approve spending $300 to participate in survey.
Funds are available in the major street and local street funds.
Stantec will use a laser beam to determine the condition of the village’s paved roads. The cost to the village is $25 per mile.
The village has 2.74 miles of major roads, and 8.70 miles of local roads, for a total of 11.44.
Tom Biehl of Hubbell, Roth and Clark, the village’s engineering firm, said the rating produced by survey results could help the village in obtaining grant money for road work in the future.
