Goodrich varsity hockey goalie Brad Smith had a significantly less busy day than his LakeVille counterpart.
The Martians outshot the Falcons 37-9 in their Jan. 27 game at Ice Mountain Sports Arena, which led to a 7-0 Goodrich victory in Genesee Area Conference play.
Zack Pernack’s two first-period goals kick-started the Martians to the win. Tom Ferreri and Brennen Benedict assisted on both of Pernack’s goals.
The Martians blew the game open with four second-period goals. Reece Geml, Max Hawkins, Darin Kern and Mitchell Syrowik all scored in that period.
Mitch Milke added the Martians? other goal of the game in the third period.
A last-second goal prevented the Martians from capturing a win against Lapeer East in a nonleague game Jan. 25.
The Panthers? Andrew Van Dougen scored with four seconds left as Lapeer East and Goodrich battled to a 1-1 tie. Lapeer East’s record is now 9-6-3 overall.
Hawkins scored the other goal of the game on an assist from Geml with 9:58 left in the third period.
