Brandon cheerleaders finish second in Flint Metro League

Brandon’s varsity cheerleading team finished the Flint Metro League season on a high note.
The Blackhawks hosted the second and final league cheerleading meet of the season Feb. 8 at Brandon High School. A total of five varsity cheerleading teams from the Flint Metro took part in the competition, with the Blackhawks finishing third at the meet with a total of 613.4 points.
Lapeer West won the meet with 645.2 points, while Oxford finished second with 631.4 points.
Taking into consideration both league meets (the first one took place Jan. 18), the Blackhawks finished second in the league with 1245.9 points, trailing only Lapeer West, which won the league with 1283 1283.4 points. Oxford finished third (1211.2), while Lapeer East finished fourth (1077) and Clio fifth (985.7).
The Blackhawks were also well-represented on the final Flint Metro League all-league team. Four Blackhawks made the all-league first team: senior Tiffany Harding, junior Katie Stratfold, and sophomores Amanda Steenson and Emily Murphy.
Three Blackhawks were named second-team all league: seniors Lindsay Baumon and Amber Hoover and junior Rachel Oosterlinck. Freshman Bethany Harding was an honorable mention selection to the team.
