The U.S. Court of Appeals has upheld the conviction of Joseph Puertas, a Clarkston businessman who was convicted of drug charges in 1999.
Puertas was the owner of the former Megabowl in Orion Township.
He was convicted in Oakland County Circuit Court of racketeering and six counts of drug delivery.
Puertas, now 78, served only six weeks of his sentence in late 1999 through early 2000, before he was released on bond.
His attorney plans to file for reconsideration of the U.S. Court of Appeals decision, to possibly be reviewed by the entire Sixth Circuit.
If that fails, the case could possibly go to the U.S. Supreme Court.
