Lake Orion High School will host a Regional Town Hall Meeting on April 4, to discuss underage drinking prevention.
The meeting is 11 a.m.-1 p.m., with a light lunch served, in the high school’s KIVA room.
To help educate about the risks of underage drinking, the federal government’s Interagency Coordinating Committee for the Prevention of Underage Drinking is supporting a series of Town Hall Meetings.
Michele Novak, LOHS Substance Abuse Prevention Advisor, said alcohol use among children and adolescents starts early, and increases rapidly with age.
The meeting at LOHS is for North and Northwest Oakland County, and the purpose of the meeting is to help increase community awareness of the dangers of alcohol use by youth.
Children in the community need to know how to reject underage drinking, and how damaging underage drinking can be to their health, now and in the future.
If you would like to attend the Town Hall Meeting at LOHS, please RSVP to Michele Novak no later than March 30, by email to mnovak@lakeorion.k12.mi.us, or by phone to 693-5638.
Parking will be available in the lower parking area behind the natatorium building. LOHS is located at 495 E. Scripps Road.
