The Brandon varsity competitive cheer team proved this season they can excel in the classroom as well as in competition.
The Blackhawks earned an academic all-state honorable mention award in Class A for the 2005-06 season. The 17 young ladies on the team combined for a team grade point average of 3.22.
Two Blackhawks earned individual academic all-state honors for earning a cumulative grade point average of 3.8 or higher. Junior Rachel Oosterlinck received honors for a 3.934 grade point average and sophomore Meghan Renner earned honors for a 4.0 grade point average.
