Goodrich-Employees of the village may soon receive a pay increase.
In addition to a proposed 4 percent, across the board pay raise for the nine village employees, the village council will soon decide if workers will receive three more personal days each year and additional money for retirement.
Village administrator Jakki Sidge said she submitted a Michigan Municipal League Wage Survey to several surrounding areas including: Davison, Brandon, and Atlas townships as well as Otisville, Holly and Ortonville. The survey was sent to determine where village employees fell in the income spectrum for similar positions in the area.
In the proposed wage increase, Department of Public Works employees would earn an additional $1.04-$2 an hour.
A secretarial position would instead be designated as a ‘administrative assistant? and would increase from $11.24 hourly pay to $13.24.
Sidge would receive the 4 percent increase in pay and has requested she receive an additional three percent in retirement contributions.
Village employees have received a 2 percent increase in pay each of the last two years, said Sidge.
‘We pride ourselves on the fact that our employees here are doing a great job,? said Sidge.
Compensation for their work, said Sidge, should be closer to what those employees would earn doing the same job elsewhere.
If agreed upon by the village council,. the proposed pay increase would be included in the new village budget, which must be adopted by July 1.
