Barb Deradoorian of Clarkston was awarded the Thrivent Financial for Lutherans Eastern Great Lakes Region Volunteer Excellence Award in the Families with Children category.
Thrivent Financial selected Deradoorian for this honor because of her dedication to helping others through volunteerism and service in 2005. During the year, she contributed to the community by leading the ThriventBuilds with Habitat for Humanity project in Oakland County. Barb recruited volunteers for the two builds on behalf of Habitat for Humanity of Oakland County and organized fund-raisers among Lutheran congregations in her chapter.
‘Deradoorian has the responsibility of caring for her own family but still makes it a priority to volunteer in the community,? said Peggy Kalis, manager of Lutheran community services for the Thrivent Financial Eastern Great Lakes Region. ‘Receiving the regional Volunteer Excellence Award is a tremendous honor and Deradoorian is deserving.?
In addition to receiving this award, $250 will be given to Habitat for Humanity of Oakland County in Deradoorian’s name.
