Thomas Gage wants his patients to be well adjusted.
And after moving his business, Gage Family Chiropractic Center from Ortonville to Goodrich, Gage considers himself in a prime position to help patients from both communities in that respect.
When asked why he made the move, Gage jumps up out of his chair to grab pictures of his two young sons.
‘I only live a mile away now,? says Gage of his new location at 10229 Hegel. Though the commute time is only shorted by 15 minutes for the doctor, he says it makes all the difference in the world for the father of a toddler and six-week-old..
It is that focus on families Gage brings with him to the Goodrich community.
Saying you’re never too young to have better spine alignment, Gage treats kids and teens of high school age for no charge.
‘I have a real small town kind of mind set,? says Gage.
Those community values are visible in Gage’s willingness to work with any budget.
‘Nobody gets turned away because of money,? says Gage.
This is done not only because Gage wants everyone to have access to this form of health care, but also because he believes so strongly in the importance of good alignment.
Gage describes the job of a chiropractor as being to remove subluxations or spinal misalignment.
‘The spine houses the central nervous system,? explains Gage. ‘If that system is compromised, the body won’t function on an optimal level.?
‘It’s just all around, ‘drug-less? health care.?
Gage Family Chiropractic Center was designed to fit Gage’s ‘keep it simple? philosophy.
‘It’s just one guy and one room,? says Gage.
And while some chiropractors have a preset regiment for all clients, such as three visits a week for a few months, followed by two visits a week for another few months, Gage says he does not subscribe to that method.
‘I adjust you, we see how you do, and we work from there,? said Gage.
For Gage, the reason to stop in for an alignment is simple.
‘If your (spine is ) adjusted, you just feel better.?
