The Pontiac-Waterford Big Chief Chorus and Quartet performed May 24 at the Orion General Motors Plant, for two of the plant’s shifts.
The chorus, which has a total of 60 members, including some from Lake Orion, provided entertainment at the G-6er Cafe, during the lunch breaks of both the day and afternoon shifts.
About 25 Big Chief members sang old favorites, as well as Doo-Wop and patriotic melodies.
The chorus also performed at Civic Center Park in Lake Orion recently, as part of the Orion Parks and Recreation’s Concerts in the Park series. The group sings at area schools, festivals, senior residences and parades. Their quartets are also available to sing for smaller group celebrations.
A Big Chief quartet was on hand to perform at the recent opening of Michigan’s first Ikea store, in Canton.
The Big Chief Chorus will perform at the Oxford Summer Concert Series in Centennial Park on July 27 at 7 p.m., and at the Orion Township Library on Sept. 24, 2 p.m.
The chorus will also sing the National Anthem before the start of the Detroit Tigers game against the Minnesota Twins on Aug. 8.
Members practice weekly year-round, and the chorus is a non-profit organization. For more information call (248) 698-4052, or visit www.bigchiefchorus.org
