The Orion Township Library will celebrate its 80th anniversary with an event on Sept. 17, 1-4 p.m.
The Ivybrooke Strings will begin the afternoon with a performance in the periodical room. At 1:15 p.m., Library Director Linda Sickles and Library Board President MaryAnne Thorndycraft will give an official welcome to the festivities.
The Lake Orion Women’s Club, library founders, will serve refreshments. Enjoy punch and cake, then take a break and check out presentations by the following authors: Larry B. Massie, Michigan historian and author of several books; Lisa Wheeler, children’s author; Jim Ingram, local author, presenting a history of Lake Orion; and Corinne Stavish, storyteller for all ages.
Borders Express will be at the library selling the authors? books, and the authors will be available for signing.
The library staff and board will be available to direct visitors and answer questions.
The Friends of the Library will be located in a welcome tent outside at the front entrance, giving out goodies and selling quilt tickets.
