Township hall can’t be senior center

Dear Editor,
As I was reading ?3 reasons against senior center? (page A20, Oct. 18 edition), I got to thinking, how would converting the township hall we have now into a senior center work?
The township hall we have is no where near adequate for a senior center. It is small in width and has more stairs than one could imagine. There are no elevators and therefore no way for the wheelchair bound to get around there.
Also, one of big things the current senior center does is make lunch for those who come. The current township hall has no kitchen. How would they continue that great service? That service is vital for the participants of the programs.
My father, Dave Wagner (Independence Township supervisor), has worked very hard to see this plan start to come alive. One of his big campaign promises was to get a new senior center started. It’s nice to see someone in this town keep their word. The township is in desperate need of a new senior center and I hope that this millage would pass easily. I know I will be voting for it.
