Junior guard Kortni Elsworth scored 22 points and added five steals as Goodrich defeated Imlay City 50-26 in Class B district girls basketball semifinal action Wednesday, Nov. 15.
The Martians (19-2) advanced to take on Almont in their district championship game, scheduled for Friday, Nov. 17 at Richmond. Imlay City finished their year with a record of 13-9.
Imlay City held tight with the Martians for about a quarter, trailing 13-10 at the end of the first period. However, Goodrich dominated in the second period, outscoring Imlay City 15-1 to take a 28-11 halftime lead.
The Martians then outscored Imlay City 22-15 in the second half to put the game away.
Other key Goodrich players were Autumn Haggadone (nine points, eight rebounds and five steals) and Casey Tubbs (six points, five steals).
