The Independence Township Board of Trustees will get its first official look at the McLaren Health Care Village at Tuesday’s meeting.
The McLaren plan is up for first reading. First phase of the $600-million project includes medical office buildings for a new Clarkston Medical Group, ambulatory care center, restaurants, and shops. Later phases could include a 300-bed, five-story hospital. It would be located on 78 acres on Sashabaw Road just south of the I-75 interchange.
The board will also hold its second workshop for the 2007 budget, rescheduled from this past Tuesday. At issue is whether the township should dip into its savings to bring the budget closer to balance. Doing so would rescue several Parks and Recreation programs, including Deer Lake Beach.
The board will meet at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 20, in the meeting room at Independence Township Library, 6495 Clarkston Road. For more information, call the township at 248-625-5111.
