THE STATE BOUNDARY COMMISSION WILL CONDUCT A PUBLIC HEARING ON THE PROPOSED INCORPORATION OF THE VILLAGE OF OXFORD AS A HOME RULE CITY.
THE GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF THE AREA PROPOSED FOR INCORPORATION IS:
THE VILLAGE OF OXFORD, ENCOMPASSING
1.3 SQUARE MILES, IN OXFORD TOWNSHIP, OAKLAND COUNTY, STATE OF MICHIGAN. THE LAND IS GENERALLY DESCRIBED AS PART OF SECTIONS 21, 22, 23, 26, AND 27, TOWN 5 NORTH, RANGE 10 EAST.
A detailed legal description of the area proposed for incorporation as petitioned, and a map that identifies the petitioned area, can be obtained from the State Boundary Commission Office by calling 517-335-3439.
This public hearing will give property owners in the Village of Oxford an opportunity to contribute information and testimony on the proposed incorporation and the following criteria:
Population; population density; land area and land uses; assessed valuation; topography, natural boundaries and drainage basins; the past and probable future urban growth, including population increase and business, commercial and industrial development in the area; need for organized community services; the present cost and adequacy of governmental services; the probable future needs for services; the practicability of supplying such services; the probable effect on the cost and adequacy of services; the probable increase in taxes in relation to the benefits expected; the financial ability of the municipality to maintain urban type services; the relationship to any regional land use plan; and, the general effect upon the entire community.
Oral or written comments may be presented in person at this hearing on May 3, 2007, or submitted in writing by email or facsimile no later than 5:00 p.m., June 4, 2007. Written comments submitted by mail must either be received or postmarked no later than June 4, 2007. All correspondence must be identified by Docket #06-I-3.

The purpose of this hearing is only for the Boundary Commission to receive public comment from interested parties. It is not a time in which a vote or any decisions on this proposed incorporation will be made by the Commission. After considering the record of proceedings, the Commission may approve the petition as filed, deny the petition, or approve the petition with boundary adjustments.
