Tony Battaglia, owner and builder of Orion Township’s Palazzo di Bocce, presented a check for $7,000 to the Oakland Land Conservancy on April 16 in an informal ceremony at the bocce palace, located on Lapeer Road.
The funding is part of the proceeds from the Detroit Lions Charities 2006 Bocce Tournament, which Battaglia co-chaired.
The 2007 Tony Filippis Memorial Bocce Tournament will be held May 16 in association with the Athletes with Disabilities Hall of Fame. It honors Filippis, founder of the Hall, who died earlier this year.
Battaglia is a longtime supporter of the Oakland Land Conservancy, which works to preserve, protect and connect natural areas and open spaces in and around Oakland County.
