‘Diamonds are Forever,? a hit at Goodrich Prom 2007

Goodrich- This year’s prom had a license to thrill as approximately 360 students danced the night away in a setting straight out of a James Bond movie.
The theme was ?007 James Bond: Diamonds are Forever,? in honor of the class of 2007, said parent Tina McKechnie.
McKechnie was one of a group of junior class parents in charge of prom planning.
Decorations were elegant, said McKechnie. ‘It was black white and red,? she said.
‘We had a huge balloon tunnel that led from the entrance at the auditorium all the way to the gym.?
And arriving at that entrance was a spectacle in and of itself for some students, said McKechnie, as teens made their way to the dance in such vehicles as a fire truck, motor homes and limos of all shapes and sizes.
Upon entering the auditorium at the high school, students made their grand entrance by crossing the stage as their arrival was announced by teachers John Lamerato and Cheryl Dotterer. There, parents were able to see their students arrive and take pictures.
Students then made their way through the balloon tunnel into the gymnasium, which had been transformed to fit the theme. Dueling pianos and Dippin? Dots ice cream were on hand, and decorations included balloon pillars, a glass diamond disco ball, a bubble fountain and even slot machines to flush the urinals in the men’s bathroom.
Local businesses Bueche’s Food World, Willow Pointe Flowers & Gifts and the Goodrich IGA donated goods for the event.
McKechnie said parent volunteers showed up in force to make prom a reality for their students. ‘Parent participation was just amazing,? said McKechnie. ‘I was overwhelmed. ..it was just amazing.?
