Brandon Twp.- As a registered nurse and massage therapist, Lynn Sabbagh’s goal is the same? to help people feel better.
In August, Sabbagh began her business, Human Touch Therapeutic Massage, LLC in Marr Chiropractic, located at 1770 S. Ortonville Road.
‘Therapeutic massage is more than just relaxation,? says Sabbagh, who is state licensed, nationally certified and has been a massage therapist professionally for five years and a nurse for 20. ‘Massage increases the flexibility of muscle. It stimulates and strengthens, so there is less pain.?
Benefits include stress and pain relief, lower blood pressure, less muscle tension and soreness, improved posture, better blood and lymph circulation, a stimulated immune system, better sleep and improved overall health.
Massage and chiropractic work together to resolve the cause of pain rather than just treating the symptoms.
‘If you receive chiropractic without addressing the soft tissue (muscle) problems, you can still have pain and decreased mobility and range of motion,? Sabbagh said. ‘With chiropractic, massage maintains your adjustment. The two work together.?
Deep tissue massage, Sabbagh explains, clears toxins from muscles and the lymphatic system. Toxins come from over contraction. Patients she sees have pain from repetitive motion, accidents, weak muscles and poor posture. Her massages relieve their pain and help them to maintain proper function.
Sabbagh is very familiar with patient education as a nurse and promotes it as a massage therapist, advising clients on stretches and exercises they can do at home to keep them healthy.
‘Massage is not a luxury, but a necessity for maintaining health and well-being,? Sabbagh said. ‘Massages help people help themselves get better.?
Sabbagh is available by appointment Monday-Wednesday, as well as some Fridays and Saturdays. Massages are $40 for a half-hour, $60 for one hour and $80 for 90 minutes. Details: (248) 627-8264.
