Brandon Twp.- Fire Chief Bob McArthur said a home in the 3700 block of Red Bud is considered a total loss after a fire June 27.
Firefighters were called to the home at 4:49 p.m. The homeowner had arrived home not long before and was outside playing with her children in the pool. She went to get towels and when she opened the door, smoke poured out. She grabbed her children and called 911, according to police reports.
Firefighters were able to extinguish the blaze within a few minutes, McArthur said. However, the damage was estimated to be around $180,000. The home was fully insured and personal belongings in the home were salvageable.
Oakland County fire investigators have listed the cause as accidental and are looking at the home’s electrical system.
