On the strength of their strong 16-6 league record, the 10U Chargers earned a berth to the AABC District Playoffs in Marshall, MI, July 5-7.
Not to be taken lightly, the Chargers powered their way into the District Championship Game by virtue of their pool play victories over a game Detroit Bees team (15-1) and a very strong Battle Creek Scorpions team (6-3).
The Chargers battled to a 4-4 tie in the Championship Game after four innings of play, but surrendered three runs in the bottom of the fifth that was all the offense NOBF league rival Oakland Whitecaps needed to seal away the Championship.
The Chargers played the entire tournament with great pride and passion and represented our community well. The Chargers display of competitiveness, skill and sportsmanship earned special praise from tournament coordinator Joe Cooper who said, ‘It was a pleasure to have your Lake Orion team to Marshall for this tournament.
