A 21-year-old Brandon Township woman has received jail and prison time in two separate court appearances last week.
Kristen N. Gallus was sentenced on Sept. 19 by Sixth Judicial Circuit Court Judge Wendy L. Potts to 180 days in jail with credit for 44 days served after she pleaded guilty to larceny in a building, stemming from an Aug. 3 incident in which she stole a check written out to ‘cash? for $1,632 from a home for the elderly where she was employed. She later attempted to cash the check at a local bank, informing the teller she was cashing the check to pay for her probation.
The owner of the home for the elderly told police she had kept Gallus employed, even after her felony conviction for assault with intent to commit great bodily harm less than murder stemming from a March 24 attack on a 21-year-old woman in the Clarkston Lakes Mobile Home Park.
Gallus was sentenced on Sept. 18 in front of Sixth Circuit Court Judge Rae Lee Chabot for probation violation on the assault charge. She will serve 19 months to 10 years in prison.
