The North Oakland Household Hazardous Waste Consortium (NO HAZ) will hold its last hazardous waste collection of the year on Saturday, Oct. 20.
The collection will take place at the Eagle Valley Recycle and Disposal Facility at 600 Silverbell Road in Orion Township, from 8 a.m.-2 p.m.
The collection will be open to residents of Addison Township, Commerce Township, Groveland Township, Lake Orion, Leonard, Oakland Township, Orion Township, Oxford, Oxford Township, Pontiac, Rochester, Rochester Hills, Waterford Township, White Lake Township, and Wolverine Lake.
No appointment is necessary. Those dropping off their waste must give their name and address at the collection for billing to the individual communities. The collection is free for individual residents of member communities.
Items collection include: oil based paints and stains, antifreeze, gasoline, kitchen and bath cleaners and polishers, mercury and mercury thermometers, aerosols, pesticides, herbicides, and computer and electronic equipment. Latex paint is not accepted.

Waste collection coming
The North Oakland Household Hazardous Waste Consortium (NO HAZ) will hold its last two hazardous waste collections of the year on Sunday, Sept. 8, and Saturday, Oct. 20.
The Sept. 8 collection will take place at the Oakland Community College Highland Lakes campus located at the corner of Cooley Lake and Hospital in Waterford. Waste will be collected in the parking lot in the back of campus on Woodland Drive.
The Oct. 20 collection will take place at the Eagle Valley Recycle and Disposal Facility at 600 Silverbell Road in Orion Township, west of M-24.
Both collections will be held from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.
The collection is open to residents of Lake Orion, Oakland Township and Orion Township, among others.
