The Brandon Blackhawk girls varsity basketball team improved their record playing Swartz Creek Jan. 30, winning the game 49-45.
Brandon was ahead in the first quarter by three points (12-9), but the Dragons worked hard to gain the lead. Throughout the second (10 points) and third quarters (16 points), the teams had the same number of baskets, allowing the Blackhawks to stay ahead.
In the fourth quarter, Brandon had 11 points compared to the Dragons 10, letting the Blackhawks keep the win. The girls had a 49-45 victory over the Dragons, with Danielle Kwasaborski leading the Blackhawks with 15 points and 13 rebounds. Sherri Lawrence gave Brandon another ten points, Vanessa Bailey, Brittany Augur, and Ashley Skornica also helped out the Blackhawks with the 49-point total. Bailey and Lawrence both had two, three-point shots for the Hawks.
The Blackhawks will play Lapeer West High School at 7 p.m. on Feb. 12.
