Goodrich – It’s double your pleasure as the Goodrich High School theater arts department presents two one-act plays for their spring production.
The ‘Fortress? and ‘Blind Date? performances will be at 7 p.m.on March 6, 7 and 8, and a matinee will be at 2:30 p.m. on March 9. The performances will be at the Raymond C. Green Center for the Performing Arts, 8029 S. Gale Road.
The play ‘Fortress? is a story about a 9-year-old boy named Billy who accidently finds out he’s adopted. Feeling betrayed, he retreats into a world of his own, cuts his mother and father off completely and builds up his own Fortress of Solitude, modeling his life after that of the most famous orphan ever, Superman.
Teacher/Director Steve Mitchell said, ‘Fortress teaches people that they need to stick together and work together. It also teaches that the real heroes are everyday people– teachers, soldiers, firefighters, policemen and anyone who tries to help others.?
Mitchell said the audience will go away with the feeling that anybody can be a hero.
The other one-act play ‘Blind Date? is a touching and very funny study of what befalls a fluttery, well-meaning aunt when she tries to arrange a date for her visiting (and uncooperative) niece.
‘Blind Date? is a happy play and the audience will leave on a happy note,? said Mitchell.
