Dear editor:
Are our Brandon schools going to survive? I can say with full confidence that our MEAP scores will be down. Furthermore, our exemplary Blue Ribbon schools are going to lose that title. Also, the taxpayers are going to be aware that our property values are rapidly declining, all because Brandon school district will no longer be desirable.
Our school board is not standing up for our students, teachers, and community. The next board meeting on Monday March 10, is to evaluate Tom Miller’s performance for an extension to his contract. We have to send a clear message that the ‘Miller Reign? must end! Miller refers to our schools as a ‘business.? Without our children coming to school you have no ‘business.?
It is not only the Ferguson scandal, this just brought up the most ‘public? controversy. The bad decisions from this administration started right from the beginning. Small changes like changing our Easter break, to taking away elementary recess, to changing the substitute teachers policy and procedures, to overloading our schools with School of Choice, addition of out-of-district special education, to no teacher contract, to hiring and firing whomever is the special of the day, to not enough desks and books, poor morale, and the disruption to our children’s school days.
We need to set our priorities straight. Show our children they are important to us. Our nation is built on the shoulders of great people who fought for what they believed in. Let’s make them proud.
