Knights’ Tootsie Roll sale set for this weekend

Clarkston’s Knights of Columbus hit the streets this weekend in their yellow vests, selling Tootsie Rolls to help people in need.
“We will work in the cold because this charitable effort warms our hearts,” said Dan Fuller, Knights of Columbus. “We hope that giving to this charitable project will warm your heart too.”
Over the past 20 years, the Catholic fraternal organization raised and distributed more than $300,000 to facilities and organizations teaching and caring for the mentally impaired.
Organizations that have benefited are Kingsley-Montgomery School, New Horizons of Oakland County, Arc of Oakland County, New Gateways, SCAMP of Clarkston, Coffee House, and Judson Center.
“Our 2007 Tootsie Roll Drive raised $16,108.97, Fuller said.
“We are hoping to exceed this amount in 2008. Thank you for your support. This effort is nothing without the community’s generosity.”
The knights will collect donations Friday-Satuday, March 14-15.
