Lacrosse teams gear up for new season

The second annual Green/White lacrosse game was held last weekend at Lake Orion High School. Coach Nik Banda and his staff saw all but about 15 team members play in their first ever lacrosse game.
‘It looks bright at this point for the upcoming season,? Banda said.
The JV game ended up with the white team taking a 7-5 victory. The team was led by junior Alex Brett, who had five of his team’s goals, and earned a promotion to the varsity level.
Also scoring for the white squad were Trevor Pilette and Jordon McAlpine. Nathynn Mitchell added two assists, and Tom Beary and Cody Hren also added an assist. Goalies Kyle Barstead and Andrew Cairns had 10 and 12 saves, respectfully, in their Dragon debuts.
The Varsity Squad saw the white team complete the day’s sweep with a 9-7 victory. They were led by senior attackman Johnny Costigan, who had four goals and three assists. Junior attackman Chris Rudnick added a goal and an assist as did newbie middie Adam Chappie, Ben Kanda and Drew Naughton. Junior RJ Hamilton and junior Alex Brett (who played in both games) each added a goal for the white team.
