Hundreds attend sixth annual festival

Ortonville- Storms came before and after CreekFest 2008, but none spoiled the annual event, which went off without a hitch last Saturday.
‘I thought it went really well,? said DDA Executive Director Molly LaLone.
The Downtown Development Authority sponsored the affair, the purpose of which is to educate the public about the presence of waterways in the village and Brandon Township’particularly Kearsley Creek as the headwaters of the Flint River and Saginaw Bay.
New this year was ‘Taste of CreekFest,? in which several local eateries including Bullfrogs, Cranberries Cafe, MacPhee’s, O’Malley’s Galley, Papa Bella’s, and The Nickelodeon offered samples of culinary specialties for a $40 fee.
‘We had around 50 people at Taste of CreekFest and for our first time, I’d call it a success,? said LaLone. ‘The food was excellent. Participants had a ballot, and Cranberries Cafe’s bread pudding was the winning entry, just slightly ahead. Everyone had a favorite from the restaurants.?
During the gala there were other winners, too: First place in the raffle, T&C Federal Credit Union ($599 prize); second place, Connie Perris ($200); third place, Mark Kattula ($199) and fourth place, T&C Federal Credit Union again ($198).
