The Ortonville Independence Day celebration will begin at dusk on July 3, with fireworks ignited from the Brandon Middle School parking lot.
Parks and Recreation Director Fred Waybrant expects the show to be ‘spectacular.?
The Chamber of Commerce sponsors the show, with funding for the $8,000 show from Wolverine Fireworks provided by donations from the township, village, businesses and local citizens.
Parking will be more of a challenge this year, since the Brandon High School lot and drive are off limits due to construction. Parking is available for a $10 per vehicle charge at the property located south of and adjacent to the high school. Free parking will still be available at Harvey Swanson and H.T. Burt elementary schools, as well as the north end of the Brandon Middle School parking lot. The parking by the BMS gymnasium is closed, as that is where the fireworks are set off from and emergency vehicles are parked there.
A concession stand sponsored by the Ortonville Rotary Club will be located at the middle school, behind Chase Bank. Rain date is July 5.
