A 48-year-old Orion Township man has been arraigned on charges after driving drunk in Brandon Township.
Randall Allen Rabdeau was arraigned Aug. 21 in 52-2 District Court on a charge of operating while intoxicated, third offense, as well as driving while license suspended, second or subsequent offense. His bond was set at $15,000 or 10 percent and he was to be outfitted with an alcohol tether if his bond was posted.
According to police reports, a Brandon deputy was dispatched to the 200 block of Hadley Road at about 11:15 p.m. on Aug. 20, after a caller said she found a motorcycle on its side in the ditch, unattended. The engine was warm to the touch and the deputy found a partially full pint of Jack Daniel’s whiskey in the trunk compartment. A LEIN check found Rabdeau to be the owner of the motorcycle, and records showed he had four prior alcohol violations and four prior driving while license suspended violations, as well as a license that is currently expired.
About 50 minutes after the motorcycle was discovered, dispatch took a call that a man was sitting under a pine tree at Hadley Road and Ids Way Drive. It was Rabdeau, who said he went to the bar after going to a funeral and didn’t know how he ended up in the ditch. He was scared and fled the scene. He said he intended to spend the night under the pine tree.
