Library’s Pacu fish turns 20

A very special member of the Oxford Public Library staff celebrated his 20th birthday Nov. 12 with a puppet show and his usual swim around the aquarium.
Winston, the large Pacu fish that welcomes visitors as they enter the library, is now two decades old.
Pacu is a common name used to refer to several species of South American freshwater fish that are related to piranha, but also kept as pets in aquaria.
Winston, who always appears to be smiling, came to live at the library in 1998.
His origins prior to that are mysterious and unknown. Fish are very tight-lipped ? except when there’s a worm around.
The library celebrated Winston’s birthday with an underwater-themed puppet show staged by Oxford resident Eugene Clark, also known as ‘The Amazing Clark.?
After the show, all the kids gathered around the aquarium and sang ‘Happy Birthday? to Winston, then ate cookies and Goldfish crackers. ? C.J. Carnacchio
