A state title is the goal of the Oxford High School Wrestling Team, and so far they’re off to a good start.
The grapplers are undefeated at 2-0 in this young season, courtesy of a season-opening 64-0 win against Utica Ford and then a closer 31-25 win over Lake Orion.
‘We had a great duel meet,? Head Coach Scott Couch said. ‘Utica is a tough school and we are very happy to start off the season with a win.?
The match against the Dragons was much closer for the Wildcats, as the score was tied 25 all going into the 103-pound meet.
‘We knew it was going to come down to the freshmen to win the dual meet, but we had confidence, and he came through,? Couch said, referring to Jacob Peasley pinning Lake Orion’s John Atwater. ‘It was a great start to a long season.?
