Brandon Pokley led the boys to their second win of the season.
The seven points he put on the board in the fourth quarter kept the Clarkston Wolves in the lead during the tight game against Carman-Ainsworth.
Ainsworth tried to come back, but missed getting seven of their shots to the basket.
The Wolves beat them, 48-44.
‘It was a good win against a good team,? said Wolves Basketball Head Coach Dan Fife.
The game began with both teams matching point for point. When the Wolves took a break at half-time they were ahead, 28-24.
Carman-Ainsworth took their lead in the last six minutes of the game with a basket made by Courtland Patterson, 42-41.
The lead was short-lived as Matt Kamieniecki stole the ball and passed it to Pokley who brought the boys back into the lead by one point.
Pokley extended the lead with a 3-pointer and two more points.
The Wolves beat the Cavaliers for the fifth year in a row.
High scorers for the Wolves were Pokley (21), Kamieniecki (15), and Tom Staton and Brandon Verlinden (6). Pokley scored five 3-pointers and Kamieniecki had one for the game.
Leading the Carman-Ainsworth were Jaylen Larry (12) and Glenn Cosey (11).
JV also won their game, 44-42.
The boys first home game scheduled for last Friday was cancelled due to the weather. The game against Flint Northern has yet to be rescheduled because both schools are on holiday break.
The varsity team will play Detroit Renaissance at on Saturday. The game begins at 7 p.m. and is at 20000 Evergreen Rd., Detroit.
‘It will be a tough game,? said Fife. ‘But a good challenge. We’ll still only two games in and my expectations are higher than where the team is right now. We need to play more game to start piecing everything together.?
The JV team plays at St. Mary Prep on Dec. 30 at 2:30 p.m.
