Church hosts marriage conference

Those who want to improve their marriage along with those getting married can get the help they need later this month at a Brandon Township church.
That’s because the Oakwood Community Church will host the Love & Respect Marriage Conference (www.loveandrespect.com) Jan. 30-31, 2009 at the church.
Inspirational speaker Dr. Emerson Eggerich will speak at the conference through a pre-recorded video format and will share his views, experience and expertise with couples. Because Eggerichs is in such high demand, he is only able to do a limited number of live meetings a year.
Oakwood Pastor Don Holliday believes people will enjoy the insight presented by Eggerichs, who pastored for about 20 years in the Lansing area and is also a best-selling author.
‘Last year we went to a live conference and went through his seminar,? Holliday said. ‘We all agreed that with the state of marriages in our communities today this would really scratch an itch and fill a need.?
Whether a couple is married or planning to get married, Holliday believes they’ll benefit greatly from the conference.
‘I think a lot of couples are struggling but they’re looking at the problem’s symptoms not addressing root problems,? he explained. ‘This conference goes to the heart of the root of the problem rather than dealing with symptoms. We’re very excited about hosting it and think it’ll help a lot of couples.?
The conference will be Friday, Jan. 30 from 6:30-10 p.m. and Saturday, Jan. 31 from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Advance registration is $20 per person or $35 per couple and must be received on or before Jan. 23. Late registration of $25 per person and $50 for couples will be accepted at the door.
Oakwood Community Church is located at 5791 Oakwood Road in Ortonville.
