Cheer squad looks to stay among top 4

Oxford’s varsity cheer team continued its improvement this past week, finishing third in the latest competition on Jan 28.
They finished the meet with 632.3938 points, third behind first place Brandon and runner-up Lapeer West. Brandon finished with 739 points, while Lapeer West finished with 715.
Oxford Cheer Coach Shari Russell was excited with the results of the meet.
‘We have worked very hard as a team and plan to continue to push ourselves until the end of the season so we can end as strong as possible,? she said. ‘The girls were very excited with our results. Their confidence and strength have grown immensely this year.?
With the finish, Oxford moved up to fourth place in the league with 1254.111 points. They trail Linden by 24 points, while Brandon sits in first with 1455 points and Lapeer West is in second with 1408 points.
‘It is our goal to stay in 3rd or 4th place with one league meet to go,? Russell said. ? AM
